Merida Greenville Adcock died at 9 a.m. Monday in the community in which he was born, six miles west of Girard. His birth occurred July 1, 1856. He was a carpenter for many years, retiring 25 years ago on account of ill health.
His is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Merida Sims of Springfield; Mrs. Sarah Ellen Henkins [sic], Mrs. Viola Jennings, both of Girard; Mrs. Belle Mayfield of Nilwood, and Mrs. Ella Drake of Palmyra; two sons, Charles of Nilwood and Thomas at home. Thirty-five grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren also survive.
Rev. F. L. Crouch of Carlinville officiated yesterday afternoon at funeral services conducted from Union Chapel church. Burial was made in the church cemetery.
