James W. "Jiggs" England, 71, of Carlinville died at 9:05 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 1995, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
He was born September 4, 1924, in Carlinville, a son of Fred and Ora Jenkins England. He married Alice Miller on December 29, 1943, in St. Charles, Mo. Preceding him in death were a brother, Don England, and two sisters, Shirley England and Geraldine Boyle.
Mr. England was a 1944 graduate of Carlinville High School, a veteran of the United States Coast Guard Reserve, and a member of Carlinville Mount Nebo Mason Lodge #76. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening and was a Cardinal baseball fan.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 22, at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home.
Burial was in Moore Cemetery. Pallbearers were Don Borgini, Joe Formea, Ed Traylor, Dennis Armour, Ron Rathke, Rog Lee, Bill Costello and Kevin Nafziger. Honorary pallbearers were John Davis, Jim Dunn, Leonard Coonrod, Dick Price, Don Hastings and Larry Clawsen.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Mike England and Bob England, both of Carlinville; three daughters, Pat Kinser of Carlinville, Peggy Renshaw of Carmi and Jo Rubin of Springfield; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; a brother, Delos England of Alton; and three sisters, Jean Franz of Carlinville, Pauline Lagemann of Godfrey and Betty Campion of Alton.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
