SAMUEL D. ENGLAND LIFE LONG RESIDENT OF THIS CITY ANSWERS FINAL SUMMONS
Samuel D. England, aged 81 years, 11 months and 13 days, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Wison [sic], at 5:45 A. M., Sunday, November 24, 1929. He had been ill about two weeks.
The deceased was born in North Otter township, December 11, 1847, and was the son of Joseph and Mary England. He was one of a family of twelve children. He married Sarah Alice Swift in 1869. She passed to the great beyond about four years ago. He is survived by four children, Mrs. Fred Wilson, of Staunton, Joseph of Peoria, and Charles and Harry, of Girard. One brother, Buchanan England, of Girard; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. He was a member of the Union Chapel M. E. church.
Funeral services were held from the Union Chapel M. E. church, at 11:00 a. m., Tuesday morning, November 26, 1929, conducted by the Rev. D. L. Jeffers, pastor of the Girard First M. E. church, assisted by the Rev. J. A. Biddle, pastor of the First M. E. church of Virden, and the Rev. Wm. England, of Girard. Interment was made in the Union Chapel cemetery.
Mrs. E. L. Davis of Peoria, spent Tuesday and Wednesday of this week with Mrs. Edith and Ada Lancaster and attended the funeral of S. D. England.
