A somber Urd walked into the temple kitchen, where Belldandy was preparing dinner. "Urd? Is something wrong?" Belldandy asked.
"You'd never guess who I ran into today," Urd said. "Remember Medusa?"
Belldandy lit up. "I didn't know she was back on the mortal plane!... Has she contracted with a mortal too?"
"Yeah," Urd said grimly, "but it's not the same as your situation. She's fighting in some 'Holy Grail War', or something. I didn't really understand it, but from what I heard, she won't survive in her current incarnation for long."
Belldandy's face fell. "Oh dear," she said softly.
"And the mortal she contracted with?" Urd looked away. "Let's just say that he's taking advantage of her... in more ways than one."
After a moment of silence, Urd rested a hand on Belldandy's shoulder. "I know I don't have to tell you this," Urd said, "but you should be grateful that you contracted with a nice guy like Keiichi."
Urd walked away, leaving Belldandy to her thoughts.
Keiichi was studying at his floor desk when he heard a knock at his door. "Oh, hello, Belldandy... What?..."
Belldandy silently kneeled behind Keiichi, put her arms around him, and held him tightly.
