Perry R. ADCOCK

Perry R. Adcock, 58, of Girard died Thursday, May 9, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born in Nilwood on August 3, 1932, a son of Charles and Goldie Barnes Adcock. He attended Girard High School and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

On October 12, 1957, he married Shirley Allen. She preceded him in death on April 17, 1974. Also preceding him in death were one brother and two sisters. On October 6, 1977, he married Eunice Landrus Opper in Carlinville.

He was a switching technician for GTE in the Virden area for 37 years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #171 and was a deacon of the Nilwood Baptist Church.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 13, at Davis-Anderson Funeral Home in Girard with the Rev. William Dean officiating. Cindy Smith served as organist, and Dixie Sloman and Darrell Opper were vocalists. Sloman sang "Fill My Cup, Lord."

Burial was in Union Chapel Cemetery. Ralph Barnes, Larry Connolly, Gary Otten, William J. Olson, Bob Perry and Ed Reznicek served as pallbearers.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Dixie Sloman of Girard and Connie Schweikert of Watauga, Texas; two sons, Randy Opper of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Darrell Opper of Arlington, Texas; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Cecil Adcock of Nilwood and Charles E. Adcock of Sun City, Ariz.; two sisters, Doris Miller of Girard and Betty Boyne of Aurora.

Memorials may be made to Nilwood Baptist Church.
