Philip G. Adcock, 69, of Gillespie, passed away at 11:57 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Born July 20, 1933, in Bunker Hill, he was the son of Philip F. and Opal (Gugger) Adcock.

He was a retired electrician at Monterey Coal Co. of Carlinville. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He married Doris Ryan on February 28, 1964 in Gillespie. She survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Opal Adcock of Gillespie; two sons, Philip F. Adcock of Centralia and Eric Adcock of Springfield; four stepsons, Brian, Brad, Brent, and Brandon Mitchell, all of Carlinville; a brother, Steve Adcock of Bunker Hill; and a sister Joyce Anders of Bunker Hill [sic].

He was preceded in death by his father.

Private family services will be held with burial at Mitchell Cemetery in rural Gillespie.

Memorials may be made to Cerebral Palsy Foundation or to the charity of donor's choice.

He was born July 20, 1933 in Bunker Hill, a son of Opal (Gugger) Adcock of Bunker Hill and the late Philip F. Adcock. He was married Feb. 28, 1964 in Gillespie to Doria [sic] (Ryan) Adcock, who survives.

Mr. Adcock was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He retired as an electrician from Monterey Coal Co., Carlinville.

In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Adcock is survived by two sons, Philip E. [sic] Adcock of Centralia and Eric Adcock of Springfield; four stepsons, Brian Mitchell, Brad Mitchell, Brent Mitchell and Brandon Mitchell, all of Carlinville; a brother, Steve Adcock of Bunker Hill; and a sister, Joyce Anders of Bunker Hill.

Private family services were held with burial at Mitchell Cemetery in rural Gillespie.

Kravanya Funeral Home, Gillespie, was in charge of arrangements.
