Geraldine A. (AMBROSE) MEREDITH

Geraldine A. Meredith, age 79 of Carlinville, died Sunday, March 22 at 4:02 p.m. at Carlinville Area Hospital.

Born September 29, 1907 in Hagaman, she was the daughter of Charles T. Ambrose and Doris Stottler. She was married to G. R. "Riley" Meredith on August 2, 1930 in Alton. He preceded her in death on July 9, 1977.

Mrs. Meredith was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Carlinville and was a homemaker.

Visitation was held Tuesday, March 24 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Davis Memorial Home in Carlinville. Services were held Wednesday, March 25 at 1 p.m. at the Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. Gordon Cox of Shipman officiating. Organist was Ben Strode and soloist was Mary Strode singing "How Great Thou Art" and "Take My Hand Precious Lord." Burial was in Shipman City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tom Ambrose, Denzil Eyer, Kelley Sies, Matthew Crays, Gordon Slighton and Robert Van Deusen.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband were two brothers and one sister.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Robert L. (Lettie) Crays of Carlinville; one son, Wayman Meredith of Carlinville; and three sisters, Odessa Joiner of Carlinville, Temple Rainey of White Hall and Imogene Bloomfield of Pueblo, Colo.
