Mrs. Edith Hayes Fransen, 95, of Yakima, Wash., formerly of Girard, died at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 1987, at Central Nursing Home in Yakima.
She was born Nov. 14, 1891, in North Otter Township, the daughter of George B. and Carrie Mahan Hayes, and first granddaughter of John Wesley Hayes. She married Oscar Fransen June 20, 1923 and he preceded her in death.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Berry Funeral Home, Girard, with Rev. Leon Swigart officiating. Burial will be in Union Chapel cemetery.
Surviving are one son, Dean Fransen of Richland, Wash.; three grandchildren; two sisters, Marie Phelps of Springfield and Imogene Thorpe of Edwardsville; and five brothers, Ralph Hayes of Springfield, Orin Hayes of Bloomington, John Hayes of Hallandale, Fla., Glen Hayes of Dallas, Texas and Howard Hayes of Carlinville.
