Eva I. Riffey, 83, of Virden died at 8 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2003, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born Jan. 10, 1920, in Girard, the daughter of Coy and Blanche Shroyer Hays. She married Robert H. Riffey Aug. 20, 1942, in Girard.

Mrs. Riffey was a homemaker and a 4-H leader for more than 25 years. She was a member of Union Baptist Church in Girard, where she was active in various groups.

Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home, Virden.

Funeral services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Durbin officiating. Organist Linda Pitchers accompanied soloist Judy Bacon. Burial: Union Chapel Cemetery, Girard. Pallbearers were William Riffey, Matthew Riffey, Michael Riffey, Andrew Riffey, Justin Moore and Dennis Marsh. Honorary pallbearer was Liberty Moore.

Surviving are her husband; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald L. and Bonnie Riffey of Talking Rock, Ga.; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty Ann and William Moore of Taylorville; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Earl and Hilda Hays of Carlinville; and two nieces.

Memorials may be made to Union Chapel Baptist Church.
