Charles Wilbur Jenkins, 66, of 1318 Main in Alton, died Monday, Jan. 19 at Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
He was born Mar. 6, 1914 west of Girard, the son of Charles and Sylvia Cogswell Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins was a Virden High School graduate with the class of 1933 and a retiree of the Shell Refinery Company in Alton where he was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Jessie; a son, Darrell of Houston, Tex.; a daughter, Linda of Denver, Colo.; 4 grandchildren; his mother, Sylvia Jenkins of Girard; two brothers, Lowell of Bunker Hill and Frank of Girard; a sister, Mae Wallner of Girard.
Services were at 11 a.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Home in Alton. Burial was in Godfrey cemetery.
Masonic rites were Wednesday evening. Members served as pallbearers.
