Last Rites for Minnie Dorks Held Saturday

Native of Macoupin County Dies Thursday At Local Hospital

Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Dell Dorks, who passed away Thursday morning at 6:20 o'clock at Carlinville Area hospital, were conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Heinz funeral home. The Rev. F. L. Crouch officiated. Mrs. Lela Mae Costello, accompanied by Miss Mellnotte Sanders, sang "The Lord Is My Shepherd" and "Some Sweet Day".

Ivan Tetzlaff, A. D. Anderson, Henly Rees, Keith Richards, James Trill and Chester Trill served as pallbearers. Interment was in Mayfield Memorial Park cemetery.

Born Jan. 8, 1877 in North Otter township, Mrs. Dorks was a daughter of Henly [sic] and Nancy Adcock Richards. She had spent her entire lifetime in Macoupin county. On Mar. 19, 1895, she married George W. Dorks in Carlinville. They began housekeeping in Palmyra, but moved to Carlinville in 1906, where they went into the dairy farm business. Mr. Dorks bottled and sold milk in Carlinville for a number of years, but retired and sold his dairy herd in 1944.

Mrs. Dorks had been in failing health for several years at her home on the west hard road. Eight weeks previous to her death she was taken to Area hospital where she was seriously ill the entire time.

Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. J. Elmer Grizzle of Alton; one son, George L. Dorks of Carlinville; one sister, Mrs. Maude Rees of Girard; one brother, Ira Richards of Girard; two grandsons and five great-granddaughters.
