Erva Wingo, 60, Dies Following Brief Illness

Erva Wingo, 60, a coal miner residing at 838 East Adams Street, died at 2:55 o'clock Sunday morning, in St. Vincent Memorial Hospital, where he was admitted Saturday after being a patient a few days in a hospital at Moline.

Mr. Wingo was born at Duquoin, March 1, 1903, the son of Hill and Nora Eaton Wingo. He was married October 23, 1921, at Benton, to Naomi [sic] Loucks. Mr. Wingo had lived in the Taylorville-Kincaid community for 23 years, coming here from Benton.

Surviving are his wife; 9 sons, James, Cecil, Donald and Harold, all of Taylorville; Russell, Benton, Ark.; Curt of Tovey; Paul, Omaha, Nebr., Kenneth and Larry, Chicago; and 3 daughters, Mrs. Erwin (Ann) Wilson, Auburn; Miss Betty Wingo and Mrs. Charles (Vella) Kimble, both of this city. He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Nora Wingo of Benton; two brothers, Alvis and Dallas, both of Benton; and 27 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, in the Connolly Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles A. Day, pastor of the Davis Memorial Christian Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 o'clock tonight.
