M. Rhea (BETTIS) BRISTOW

M. Rhea Bristow, 91, of Palmyra died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at Pleasant Hill Village in Girard.

Mrs. Bristow was born March 1, 1911, near Modesto, a daughter of George Washington and Dora Frances Shores Bettis. She married Clarence "Buster" Bristow Feb. 26, 1930, in Springfield; he died Dec. 8, 1994. Also preceding her in death were eight brothers, Clarence Bettis, Otto Bettis, Orville Bettis, Carl Bettis, Melvin Bettis, Fred Bettis, Welcome Bettis and Oren Bettis in infancy; five sisters, Annie Hartsook, Ora Pierson, Rae Crawford, Gracie Edminston, and Mary Bettis in infancy.

Mrs. Bristow was a member of Trailblazers Camping Club and Pleasant Dale Southern Baptist Church in Girard.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at Stults-Neece Funeral Home in Palmyra.

Burial was in Girard City Cemetery.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Donna Bristow of Palmyra; two daughters and sons-in-law, Thelma and Bill White of Palmyra and Pauline King and Paul Jones of Carlinville; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
